The Bicentennial Schools Proyect, in which Fundación Lúminis took an active part in its promotion from 2007 to 2013, has been subject of an article in La Nación newspaper. The editorial explains that the proyect can now be considered to be acomplished regarding the improvement in the quality of education in Argentina. Many organizations from the public and private sectors worked toguether in order to asist socially vulnerable schools.

Fundación Lúminis, the Interational Institute for Education Planning (IIPE-UNESCO), the School of Education of St. Andrews Unviersity, and the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), United Nations, Economic Comission for Latin America and the Caribbean (CEPAL) and the Center of Implementation of Public Policies for Growth and Equality (CIPPEC), amongst other important companies and non gonvermental foundations worked together in one of the most important education-based projects from the past years.

The 52 million pesos investment gathered from the contribution of public and private sector organizations managed to asist 132 schools and Teacher Traning Schools in the provinces of Tucumán, Chaco, Corrientes, Córdoba, Buenos Aires and Santa Cruz -a total population of 65.000 children and more than 2000 headmasters and teachers.

Given that the repetition rates in the shooles involved droped by 75% and that there has been a noticable academic improovement in the students, it is fair to say that the project was succesful and that it must work as a guide into future desitions in the education system.
